“Subernova is a web based project management tool to help solo designers, writers, bloggers”. Not much else I can add to that, but it’s mainly the layout of the product which I want to show you.
Subernova is created by Hex.sg, and is using black and white troughout the entire product, with blue as an accent color, used to highlight selected items or options. Creating a strong design with only black, white and blue is pretty impressive!

For all Adobe Illustrator users here: Vectips.com is for you! The website is dedicated to Illustrator tips, tricks and tutorials and created by Ryan Putnam (a.k.a. Rype). Ryan also runs Rypearts.com, his personal website, including his portfolio.
Back to Vectips. The site has a clean look, and crates a fresh impression. The main menu items are located on the top left, accompanied with big icons to make it easy to spot and navigate. The posts are setup with a lot of space between them, and make it feel light and easy to read. Certainly worth a visit if you are a designer.

Dragon Interactive is a web design agency based in Los Angeles. The website is very dark, which is not very common for web design agencies in general. The header uses a very nice hover effect, which can be found at their labs site. This sub site provides you with some welcome tips and tools.
The header looks brilliant, with a silver look on the dragon to make it stand out. Also the idea of depth behind it contributes to this effect. Also notable: a timeline is shown on the website, where you can see when they have time for a new project.

This time a darker website for review: Discoapp.com. The website is all about Disco, a disc burning tool for Mac users.
The bright red creates a nice contrast with the darker surroundings, and really makes the logo stand out. The website is clean and accessible, and they made sure the more important part of the text stood out by making it brighter.
Further more this website does not contain a lot of pages; most of the information is right there on the homepage. It gives a clean and easy overview of all the possibilites.

Where a certain graphical quality is one part of a website, the other side is even more important: the programming behind the scenes. Webappers.com gives us a daily post with a versatile utility for the web. Every tool and/or utility is indexed in a category and type of license.
The blog itself is clean and informative, and the categories are well chosen. Scripts for art galleries, video, animations, file uploads etc, you can find it all at Webappers.com

Since we are trying to create a collection to provide inspiration, this website is a must. AListApart.com is a very minimalistic website, with a lot of information on it. The main focus was providing information without too much graphics around to distract the reader.
The website consists of articles targeting “people who make websites”. The main topics are about typography on the web, usability, user-friendliness of the layout and things to consider when making a website. It is fun to read, and you will learn a lot on the way.
