newworkcitycomau

NewWorkCity.com.au is about Parramatta, the geographic, commercial and cultural capital of Western Sydney, Australia. The page is used to promote the employment opportunities over there, and let the people know more in general about Parramatta.

A sky-blue background, with several elements of our earthy planet create a vibrant picture. This image is the base of the entire website, and Flash takes care of the rest; animations between pages and content. The entire website is created in Flash, and creates a pretty solid multimedia experience.

redrosedalecom

Ted Rosedale loves music, and uses this website to show the visitor what he likes. He leads a very musical life, seen his short story; began with humming in his cradle, got his first drum set at the age of 6, played guitar when he reached 10, piano, violin, bass, ukulele, etc.

His website is a bit spooky, and reminds me of halloween. It is completely setup in Flash, and has a few nice details in the site. For example, click a branch and a song will play. While the song plays, the tree will florish more and more.

subernovacom

Subernova is a web based project management tool to help solo designers, writers, bloggers”. Not much else I can add to that, but it’s mainly the layout of the product which I want to show you.

Subernova is created by Hex.sg, and is using black and white troughout the entire product, with blue as an accent color, used to highlight selected items or options. Creating a strong design with only black, white and blue is pretty impressive!

dragoninteractivecom

Dragon Interactive is a web design agency based in Los Angeles. The website is very dark, which is not very common for web design agencies in general. The header uses a very nice hover effect, which can be found at their labs site. This sub site provides you with some welcome tips and tools.

The header looks brilliant, with a silver look on the dragon to make it stand out. Also the idea of depth behind it contributes to this effect. Also notable: a timeline is shown on the website, where you can see when they have time for a new project.

Dierenbescherming.nl: Dutch Design

dierenbeschermingnl

The Dierenbescherming (Dutch for Animal Protection) has just launched a new website. The organisation consists of several ‘action groups’, with each their own responsibility. To name a few, there are inspection services, Ikzoekbaas (a shelter organisation to provide animals with a new home), Kids for Animals to provide information in a very accessible way for children.

While all the linked websites are in Dutch and have their own web address, it is very clear how they are combined on the homepage of the animal protection website itself. The website is divided into several blocks, where each group is represented.

Furthermore the choice of colors is excellent, soft tones to make it clear and easy to navigate, and brighter colors to highlight several actions or the more important parts of a page.

Tri-win.com: Instant impression

tri-wincom

Some websites show you what they are about, the very moment you enter them. Tri-win is a perfect example where the background reveals almost instantly what the site is about, in this case mail services.

While the layout is pretty basic on the site itself, it is the background image that creates the idea of a original design and navigation structure. A perfect example of the power of images.
